OC Board of Supervisors Joins Trump in Condemning CA Sanctuary Law
The Orange County Board of Supervisors voted on Tuesday, March 27 to join a Trump administration lawsuit against California’s controversial sanctuary law.
The Supervisors passed a resolution that condemns the California Values Act and will use County resources to fund litigation against the state of California. The decision elicited praise from President Trump on Twitter.
The racist and hateful rhetoric at the meeting from anti-immigrant groups was expected, but it is extremely disappointing, though not surprising, to hear the same rhetoric from the Supervisors themselves.
They made a clear statement that they want to undermine any trust immigrant communities have with local government agencies and local law enforcement. We need your help in showing the Board of Supervisors that the community opposes this racist, anti-immigrant resolution.
Orange County values our diverse immigrant community and we want everyone in Orange County to feel safe when they go to schools, hospitals, or courthouses. Please email and call the Supervisors and tell them that you do not support their hateful rhetoric or their wasteful use of County resources to threaten immigrant communities (see these talking points).
